Accomplishments: Gridiron Technologies
Earlier this spring, the MGN purchased a new system that will greatly benefit our
student-athletes on the field. This simulation system, called Gridiron Technology,
works just like a video game.
Each week, the entire offense and defense of the upcoming opponent will be input into
the system. Our players will then be able to practice against "real" opponents, rather than just
watching them on film or playing against scout team players. This "real-time" simulation will
prove invaluable to our players.
For example, Sam will be able to simulate situations in three modes:
Assisted Practice - he has unlimited time to make decisions, and has all the tips at his disposal
Practice - he has limited time to make decisions, and there are no visual keys to the play
Test - each play is timed, and the player is tested on a series of questions related to that play.
The test is timed and scored.
Schools such as Oklahoma State, Arizona State and Virginia are already using this technology.
Members who attended the spring update on April 12th were shown a 30-minute presentation,
and guests who attended the Gala were shown a 3-minute real-time video demonstration.
Thanks to the generosity of the attendees at the Gala, $9,500.00 was raised at the Gala towards
the $35,000 annual fee for the system.
