1950
- Byrd Stadium is constructed at a cost of $1 million. The original capacity was 34,680, but could be boosted to more than 50,000 with temporary bleachers around the rim of the stadium.
- Maryland ranked #15 in the preseason AP poll.
- Maryland defeats Navy 35-21 in first game played at Byrd Stadium.
- Maryland defeats then #2 Michigan State, 34-7.

1951
- Maryland ranked #16 in the preseason AP poll.
- Maryland wins co-championship of the Southern Conference.
- Maryland defeats #1 Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl, 28-13.

1952
- Ed Modzelewski selected in the first-round of the NFL Draft.
